Our company began with the founding of Owen Laboratories in 1961. We became Galderma Laboratories in 1981, a multi-national company with a worldwide presence in the dermatology industry that allows us to meet the needs of healthcare professionals and their patients in over 70 countries. Our parent company is in Lausanne, Switzerland; our corporate services offices are in La Defense, France.
We have sites in North America, Western Europe and Latin America, and additional markets in Asia, Australia and Africa. Galderma employs 2,300 people in 33 fully owned subsidiaries worldwide.
Opened in 1994, our production site in Alby-sur-Chéran, France, manufactures over 25 million units a year. The Industrial Development Unit, located next to the plant, takes our products from the R&D laboratories to full industrial-scale production.
Our three state-of-the-art R&D facilities are situated in:
- Sophia Antipolis, France
- Princeton, New Jersey
- Tokyo, Japan
The Montreal plant in Canada was recently built to meet the growing demand for Galderma products in North America. Using the latest manufacturing technology, it has an annual production capacity of 50 million units.
Opened in 1981, Galderma’s United States corporate offices and distribution center are headquartered in Ft. Worth, TX.
One of Galderma’s major research discoveries was adapalene, which subsequently led to the launch of Differin® (adapalene gel) Gel, 0.1%, a treatment for acne, in 1996.
Rosacea, a type of inflammatory dermatitis, is the fifth most common diagnosis made by dermatologists. Our MetroGel® (metronidazole topical gel), 0.75%, MetroLotion® (metronidazole topical lotion), 0.75%, and MetroCream® (metronidazole topical cream), 0.75%, products are the world’s number one prescribed rosacea therapy.
Clobex™ (clobetasol propionate) Lotion, 0.05% is the only Class I or super-high potency steroid available in a lotion to help control and treat moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in patients 18 years and older.
Cetaphil® is our line of cleansers and moisturizers used to achieve and maintain healthy, glowing skin.

We have three sales divisions: Galderma, Cutiscience and Theracutix™. Theracutix™ opened in 2003 to serve the current and future needs of dermatologists in the United States and supplement the company's other current sales divisions.
We have been a leader in the dermatology industry for many years, yet we continue to be innovators in providing safe, effective treatments for skin.
